Angela Johnson was born and raised here in Madison, WI. She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA for undergrad. She has an MA in Art Education and an MFA both from UW-Madison.
Her areas of artistic expertise include alternative photo processes, bookmaking, box making, installation art and creativity coaching. She has worked with a few different science professors on campus to create permanent art pieces and kits as part of the Broader Impacts portions of their National Science Foundation grants.
Johnson is a fixture in the Wisconsin arts scene, with 20+ years of experience maintaining public art studios, teaching workshops, facilitating programs, leading public art installations and lecturing at universities. She has worked in museums, elementary schools, senior centers, colleges and universities. She has inspired and helped people of every age — from toddlers to 95-year-olds — reaching far into the depths of their imagination to discover and channel their creativity.
Currently Angela is teaching faculty for the Art dept and teaches the Service Learning in Art (CBL) courses.
Angela as the teaching faculty advisor will provide art expertise, community connections and resources for bridging art-science project development.
